1. The 2024 Suicide Prevention Conference: A Big Success!
On Monday, September 9, 2024, ASPIRE hosted its first ever Suicide Prevention Conference that drew in a caring community of 150 individuals. The event was graced Keynote Speaker Thomas R. Joiner, PhD, an American Academic Psychologist renowned for his expertise in suicide prevention, sparking insightful conversations and inspiring action.
2. Fostering Hope: CAMS-Care Trainings for Behavioral Health Staff
ASPIRE’s sponsorship of two CAMS-Care trainings in 2024 stands as a beacon of hope for suicidal patients. With 23 dedicated behavioral health staff completing the training, the community now harbors a team equipped with an assessment and treatment framework proven effective in reducing suicidal ideation and nurturing hope worldwide.
3. Building Lifesaving Skills: QPR Training for 145 Individuals
In a move to empower and educate, ASPIRE conducted QPR training sessions, arming 145 individuals with lifesaving skills to respond to crises effectively. This Gatekeeper training, recognized globally, enables participants to recognize warning signs, intervene compassionately, and offer crucial support to those at risk of suicide, fostering a culture of care and intervention within our community.
4. Extending Compassion: Organizations Trained in 2024
In a ripple effect of compassion and education, ASPIRE extended its reach to vital organizations within its community. In 2024, Red Robin, Wing Stop of South Central PA, Linglestown Fire Company No. 1 – Station 35, Colonial Park Fire Company No. 1, and Walk with Scissors cosmetology academy underwent training, amplifying the collective effort to combat stigma and provide essential support to those in need. Through these accomplishments, Dauphin County ASPIRE has continued to inspire, respond, and educate, nurturing a community where empathy and understanding reign supreme. Together, we are united in our mission to create a culture of care, support, and collaboration.
